Today was a mix of ticking items off the checklist and a hearty attempt at embracing the slower pace of life... if cooking counts as taking it easy. I found myself pondering the difference between a to-do list and a plan early on, but that idea quickly got filed under ‘think about later’ when I ended up detouring to prep a few rooms at home instead of the kitchen chaos I had originally envisioned. Batch cooking, consider thyself postponed.

Off to the paint store we went! Got hold of everything necessary for sprucing up the studio floor, thanks to the trusty guidance of my better half, who is far more adept at navigating the vast spectrum of paint colours than yours truly. Who would have thought floor painting would end up being a saga in phases? It seems I’ll be doing it in two halves with 12-16 hour drying gaps. A perfect time to help out a friend with a task next week. My admin duties might need to dodge this particular curveball – life’s never dull around here!

Played around with digital collaging and had another go with clipping masks in Procreate. If I’m honest, the result was more of a shrug and a “not there yet.” Still, every wobble in the learning curve is a little victory, right? I’m keeping this task penned in for tomorrow. Despite the change in plans and the constant shifting of gears, I’m grateful for paint supply runs, a library at home to fall back on, and my wife’s colour-savvy eye.

While the rest of the world might be winding down, it looks like next week’s going to be quite interesting with both studio transformations and friendly favours. Here’s to slowly finding the right balance between making art and making the space that facilitates it.
