JOURNALS

Today has admittedly been a rather long and scattered grind, managing to be both daunting and reassuring in equal measure. The day started with a constant sense of moving from one thing to another, mainly centred around the family, dentists, and the youngest's induction day at a new college.

I played a bit of Diablo this morning to see what the new season is like. It was oddly effective in helping me switch off from the stress of selling the old studio and the mountain of house and family admin. The game felt like a little window of respite amidst the chaos, but I can't play all the time, so the stress still crept back in.

Most of the day was spent driving to various appointments, making sure things ran smoothly for everyone. I think it must've been around mid-afternoon when I managed to take a nap, which was surprisingly refreshing. However, upon waking, I felt a wave of annoyance about the old studio sale, the estate agent, and the solicitors. This whole thing has dragged on for much longer than it should have, and I'm just fed up with it. Meditation and the 'don't fret over what you can't control' advice is all very well, but it's hard to keep the irritation at bay.

I did squeeze in some cooking, which was therapeutic in its own way. It's one of the few activities where I feel fully in control. The rest of the day pretty much followed my expectation of just making sure everyone was where they needed to be and that the day went well overall.

In the evening, I tried to unwind with a bit of TV, which worked to some extent. But, the studio nonsense still lingers in my mind. I've really extended all resources longer than should have been necessary and I'm feeling the exhaustion from it all.

Reflecting back, I'm thankful we had a car to manage all these appointments, that the youngest had a promising first day at the new college, and that the headache I started the day with eventually went away. The car certainly made the logistics easier, which I appreciate.

Overall, today was a mixed bag of small wins and lingering stressors, but we got through it. Fingers crossed for a smoother tomorrow.
