JOURNALS

Another scorcher of a day today. Started off the morning still playing that fun/stupid game Bitburner. Spent a little longer on that than I probably should have, but optimising those scripts had me hooked.

Decided to take it chill and focus on relaxation, especially because of the recent eye strain. The relaxation technique of choice today was making sure everyone ate at sensible times. Breakfast was a slow, almost meditative process. Lunch was much the same, with a bit more effort going into it. Dinner, however, was less elaborate since I had to go fetch my eldest son from his event at six.

We managed to clear the kitchen table, a small but satisfying victory. Thought we might start a jigsaw, but the heat and general Sunday lethargy got the better of us. Instead, we just chilled for the afternoon. By the time I got back from picking up my son, it was already time for dinner and we opted for a relaxing evening instead.

Reflecting on today’s engagement with Bitburner, I found my initial enthusiasm waning a bit. While the game was fun and mildly entertaining, I realised I didn't want to invest more time into it. It was fascinating while it lasted, though, and a neat way to understand some coding mechanisms.

I did pretty well with the meal prep strategy for relaxation. It added a sense of rhythm to the day and even with the evening's car trip, everything ran smoothly.

Going to fetch my eldest son was a nice drive. It gave me a chance to clear my head a bit. Also, it felt good knowing he had a great time at his event. By the end of the day, I felt fairly tired – probably because of the late nights over the weekend. Today’s easy-going pace helped wind things down.

All in all, a calm, restful Sunday. Just what I needed before jumping back into the work week.
