The Drawing Machine
Plotted out another 48 frame animation, where each frame is 16:9 ratio. Not sure when I'll have time to photograph this one to turn it into an animation.
Below is a selection of development diaries for projects I'm working on. I try to keep these up to date; if I've been working on something then I tend to post an update at the end of the day. This is my alternative to posting on social media.
Most recent updates are at the top.

I said I wasn't going to grow vegetables, only flowers for ink. And yet here we are, one of two courgette seedlings.
Trying a new design with the brush pen holders. This time giving them a slightly tapered and then faceted end. Practically to make them drop into the base easier, but also to make them look more gem like.
As I had the Sentinel landscape generator working I made it save out png views as well as the SVGs. Actually for fun it can create both PNG and SVG of the same view. The tree and enemy algorithm is slightly wrong here, so while the landscape is correct, the...
Been a while.
The plan was/is to make 32 of these FALLiNGWATER notebooks, and a stack of eight have been sitting next to me for months, with six done, two left to stitch up.
Grabbed the last two today and just did 'em!
Progress.
Made a small little zine about the dots and printed it on the Riso printer. Simple 8 page zine from cutting and folding a single sheet.
Part of the FALLiNGWATER project was making a soundtrack to go with it, which was published on Spotify. As I'm slowly moving away from online services I figured I should turn the soundtrack into a mixtape.
Just a bit of fun, but now I have an analog way to listen to the soundtrack.
Added another new tool to Kitty. This is a desktop conference mic/speaker. It has four mics pointing in the four directions and pretty good background noise cancelling. After trying out the dictaphone with Kitty (words great), I also wanted something that would be always listening and transcribing. So as I...
And another jump in time 😅 Since starting the project I bought myself a printer, and having decided after all my pen plotting ink tests that I did indeed want to use the inks I figured it was time to focus on the design and try to move the whole...
Okay, back at it today, and a few more passes, and I kinda love it.
The colours really pop in the photos and it just looks like a wonderful thing to have going on in a drawing machine.
Another part of me is worried about all that dust near the machine though, so 🤷♂️
Hmmmmm, I should really upload and back-date all the handwriting photos I have so far, but as I'm starting these dev diaries now I guess I have to start somewhere. These photos were taken so I could add them to my newsletter, but I didn't use them in the end....
