JOURNALS

Saturday's been one of those properly good weekend days. My eldest popped over this morning for a visit - we've missed the last couple of weekends due to either me being away or them being poorly, so it was brilliant to catch up.

Got up super early at 6:30, which gave me a couple of hours before they arrived to tinker with the Sea Howls from the West zine. I'm so close to finishing it now! Just a few pages left. Did discover a weird printer quirk though - when I print full bleed, it expands the image slightly and crops bits off the edge. Typical. Every time I have to reinstall the printer (which happens more than I'd like to admit), the settings change. Used to have a "no expand" borderless option that was perfect, but now it's gone rogue on me.

We all ended up going for a walk together, which turned out to be the highlight of the day. There's something properly lovely about having fields at the end of our road to wander through. The rivers were looking particularly nice today too.

After all that fresh air, I treated myself to a proper weekend nap. Nothing beats a post-walk snooze - it's the weekend rule book in action. Did manage to work on the zine a bit more too, though not as much as I'd planned. But that's what weekends are for, right? Not sticking rigidly to plans.

Looking forward to tomorrow's studio visit to look through some printmaking books. Just hanging out, eating snacks and flipping through pages sounds like the perfect Sunday activity. Might also do those print calibration tests I've been putting off, to sort out this borderless printing nonsense once and for all.

Three grateful things for today: having fields to walk in at the end of the road, rivers, and books. Not a bad list, that.
