JOURNALS

Today was a bit of a whirlwind but surprisingly productive. I kicked things off by tackling the old studio clean-up and tidying tasks. It felt good to get that sorted out first thing.

Once back home, I dove into some shopping and took care of house chores—washing up, cooking, even a bit of gardening. It was non-stop until I finally sat down to work on regenerating the thumbnails for all my YouTube videos. The entire process took longer than anticipated, but it was worth it. Turns out, the old FFMPEG code was gobbling up massive amounts of my hard drive space with oversized PNG files. I updated the code to generate smaller JPGs, freeing up a ton of space. Now I’ve got over 700 gigs spare, which feels like such a win.

As for self-care, I had a mix of throwing myself into various household tasks and some downtime fiddling with my laptop. Though, playing a game on the laptop gave me a slight headache again—frustrating when trying to unwind.

An interesting insight popped up while experimenting with Affinity Publisher. Simply put, it's excellent for basic zine creation, but its lack of advanced features means more complex self-published books might need different software. Still, I’m quite excited about the potential for simple zines.

Overall, a busy and productive day. I managed to keep the headaches at bay with minimal laptop use—a trend I hope continues. My next feat might be getting an iPad for Procreate, as it seems more ergonomic. Until then, I'm sticking to reading books for relaxation.

Now, fingers crossed, I can keep up this momentum for the upcoming week. Quit while one’s ahead, and all that.
