I missed the tradition end of year round-up for 2011 so I thought I’d get in quickly for 2012. Also this post is going to be self indulgent and rambling much like all my other ones, it also isn’t really about anything. Once more I’m battling with writing, in that I want to write but [...]

Things I learnt while making a Newspaper with NewspaperClub
Posted in general, offtopic on 7 January, 2010 | 1 Comment »
The every-so lovely NewspaperClub have just announced their prices for printing your very own paper. And this shouldn’t have to be said, but I will … Printing your own Newspaper is very exciting. People are already used to printing books and to an extent magazines, (Blurb, lulu and MagCloud as examples) but newspaper up to [...]
5.1 Questions for Kids on DSP, Augmenting your reality with Reactive Music and The Bangkok remix.

Today (finally) saw the launch of Kids on DSP‘s “Reactive Album” (more on that phrase later). You can get it from the App Store (iTunes App Store Link) Previously I’ve expressed my interest how it fits in with the whole Augmented Reality thing (hint: wear noise canceling headphones). While waiting for the full album I [...]
[off topic] The Anti-Anti-Spymaster Rant, a quick Spymaster gameplay analysis and a hint of location thrown in for good measure.

Oh #spymaster, I saw this comment posted to twitter the other day … “decides to stop following everyone who uses #spymaster. Do you guys even know what twitter is for?” … I have no arguments with the “stop following” part, everyone is free to do what they want. It’s the whole knowing what something is [...]
Where I'm actually living in augmented reality, Jefferson Airplane and what does this mean for photos.

Here’s the breakdown, first I’ll mention augmented reality, then I’ll ramble a bit, then I’ll make a point, or not, depending on how the rambling has gone. First the Augmented Reality part. I’ve downloaded RjDj onto my iPhone, it’s basically two things 1) Awesome, 2) Sound processing software that samples your environmental soundscape and plays [...]
[offtopic] On why Bloggers are not Press Reporters and how you should keep that in mind when reading blogs (unless they are).

This is only tangentially related because of the Flickr angle. I’ve just finished reading Dan Heller’s post “Pulling the Flickr sword out of the Yahoo stone” [via Thomas Hawk's blog] for the third time. It’s finally clarified what I’ve been thinking about how you should approach reading blogs. To the point of actually writing something. [...]
[offtopic] Grrr for disheartening blog hosting.

My default spam catcher had been doing a pretty good job, and then I started getting spam that basically just said “Cool”, “Nice”, “Sorry :(” and “Interesting” with the username being the spam link. For the life of me I couldn’t find a way to add those to my spam catcher so I had to delete them using WordPresses own comment management tools. Which took forever to do as each page load (or Ajax delete) took ages to reload etc. etc.Now I’m also getting the occasional “can’t connect to your mysql db server” messages too, sigh.Anyway, I’ve been testing out SpamKarma2 and that’s been catching pretty much all the new spams and saving me a lot of time and effort, which is nice.Which leaves me where?

[Offtopic] Test Post to see what's up with the geobloggers site.

People we read the site, probably not for a while. Why, because something seems to either be up with the server of the WordPress configuration…. Either way it’s not good enough so I’m troubleshooting with this very post and probably the next one!In other news I changed the css for the site so it loads the important middle column first, then all the secondary stuff on the right and left.
[offtopic] Messing around with blog template, excuse the mess
Posted in offtopic on 11 February, 2007 | Comments Off
I’m fiddling with the blogs templates at the moment, there’s a good chance things will looks horribly broken until I’m done.Still haven’t figured out a good way to try out changes without messing up the main site, without a load of tricky backing up and restoring on a separate site. Unless anyone has any great ideas on how to do that.Thanks.
